Throughout the years, I’ve handled a variety of different personal injury cases, but the most common case types include:
Auto accidents
Wrongful death
Premises liability
Bicycle accidents
Slip-and-fall accidents
Lack of security incidents
Dog bites and animal attacks
Whether you’re dealing with comparative negligence law, or you’re an auto accident victim, I’m here to help you. Call 954-745-8100 now to speak to an attorney.
The Florida Statute of Limitations
Like most other states, Florida also has a statute of limitations that governs the amount of time you have to file a lawsuit in civil court against a person or business. Under Florida law, you have four years from the date of the accident to file a lawsuit in civil court. If you do not file your case within the four-year window, the court will likely refuse to hear your case.
This four-year window applies to all injury-related lawsuits, with the exception of medical malpractice lawsuits. Medical malpractice lawsuits have a smaller window of only four years from when you discover the injury or two years from the date the malpractice occurred.
Don’t Wait — Timing Can Make All the Difference
At the end of the day, timing can make or break your case when it comes to injury law. Not only is there a statute of limitations on filing a lawsuit, but some of these cases can take some time when it comes to negotiating with insurance companies and attorneys.
As someone who has helped countless injured victims over the years, I understand that you’re dealing with the difficult process of recovery while your case is being handled.
I want to help you through that process as quickly and painlessly as possible, which is why I urge every client to begin the legal process as soon as they can to move their case forward and get back on their feet.
