Brief info

Dr. Stacey West grew up in a suburb west of Boston, Massachusetts. At the early age of 5 years old, she knew she wanted to become a veterinarian due to her passion and love for animals. In high school, she cemented her enthusiasm for veterinary medicine while working at an exclusive dog and cat animal hospital

Dr. Stacey West grew up in a suburb west of Boston, Massachusetts. At the early age of 5 years old, she knew she wanted to become a veterinarian due to her passion and love for animals. In high school, she cemented her enthusiasm for veterinary medicine while working at an exclusive dog and cat animal hospital.

Education

She received her bachelors degree from Emory University with a major in Biology and a minor in Mathematics. Veterinary studies continued at the University of Florida. Where Dr. West obtained her doctorate in veterinary medicine and a Certificate in Shelter Medicine.
 
At the UF CVM, Dr. West was selected as a Student Ambassador and was the President of her class for 3 consecutive termsShe was also the Vice President of SCAAFP- Student Chapter of the American Association of Feline Practitioners. Dr. West received several awards and honors:
  • For academic research on The Madison Wisconsin Protocol for Canine Lymphoma.
  • The France P. Weaver Scholarship for her academic achievements, leadership and service
  • A SCAVMA Activities Award Recipient for her contribution to SCAVMA and to veterinary medicine as a whole.
  • The Melanie Meador Penn Memorial Scholarship, awarded to Dr. West for high grades, a dedication to the profession and her affinity for cats.

Professional life

Upon graduation from the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. West completed a one year rigorous rotating internship in medicine and surgery at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in North CarolinaSince completing her internship in 2013, Dr. West has been practicing veterinary medicine, including emergency and critical care, in southeast Florida. Thus she has successfully treated some of the sickest pets.
 
Dr. West also completed a 100 mile bike ride with the veterinary cycling team During her free time, Dr. West enjoys barre, cycling, volunteering and traveling. She is the proud mother of 3 beautiful cats, 2 turtles and an adorable dog.
