Summit Athletix Program Policies

Summit Athletix Program Policies

GENERAL POLICIES

Our intent in all our policies is to create an environment that trains our athletes not only for success in All Star Cheer, but in life. Adherance to policies and procedures is a skill all our athletes will need. Parents – let’s work together to prepare our kids for their futures by learning to follow the policies and procedures we feel will benefit everyone at Summit Athletix.
  • Athletes must have a waiver on file to participate in any Summit Athletix activities

  • Athletes must sign in via the screen by the front desk upon entering the gym. See the full policy in

    Prioritizing Safety.

  • Underage alcohol and/or drug use is not permitted and will be cause for termination from the program.

  • Athletes who are behind on payment will be asked to sit for the first practice, then released from the team

    if payment is not made.

  • No food, drinks (except water bottles) or gum is allowed in the practice area.

  • Summit Athletix is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please instruct your child to NOT bring valuables

    to practice.

  • Cell phones will be off limits during practice. Athletes will be asked to store phones in a specific location

while they are in the building. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • All Choreography is confidential and is not to be shared on any social media or by text until permission is

given by the All Star Director. Our staff will post various skills on social media throughout the year. You are

more than welcome to share those videos produced by the gym.

  • Please do not drop your child off at the gym more than 10 minutes before their scheduled practice time.

  • If you or your athlete has concerns, please set up a meeting with the All Star Director to discuss. We would

rather issues be brought to our attention early. We want to openly communicate and resolve issues to

prevent further drama. Texting is not an acceptable way to address and resolve issues.

TEAM PLACEMENT

Forming teams is like a puzzle. We place athletes on the team we feel they will be the most successful as individuals and will benefit the program as a whole. Please keep in mind that tumbling is NOT the only factor when it comes to team placement. The staff at Summit Athletix reserves the right to:

  • Place athletes on the team we feel they will be the most successful and will benefit the program as a

    whole

  • Move, replace or add athletes to the team throughout the year for any reason. Reasons could include

attendance, commitment, work ethic, attitude, loss of skill or injury.

  • We require athletes placed on a specific team maintain the skills they tried out with. If an athlete is

struggling with a required skill, we will ask that they work outside of regular practice time. The loss of

skills could result in moving the athlete to a team where their current skills can be utilized to the

    fullest extent.

  • Allow athletes to cross to other teams or to be designated as an alternate to a team.

  • Designate athlete’s stunting position on the team. Some athletes may need to change to a position

they are not used to. This is part of the learning process in our sport!

COMMITTMENT

Joining an All Star program is a huge commitment. The athlete and their family are choosing to make a season long commitment to their team and coaches. Perseverance is one of our core values and we expect our athletes and families to honor this value as well. Commitment and perseverance go hand in hand. If an athlete chooses to break their commitment to their team it affects the entire team and ultimately the program. Any athlete who breaks their commitment mid-season may not be eligible for a USASF release.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is mandatory for all team practices.

  • Please make Summit Athletix your priority over other extra curricular activities. Your team members and

coaches are depending on you to be present.

  • Please schedule vacations as to not conflict with Summit practices or competitions.

  • Choreography attendance is mandatory for being part of the team. Please plan accordingly.

  • Extra practices may be needed. Every effort will be made to schedule these 2 weeks in advance. However –

there will be times that our staff feels it is in the best interest of the team to add a practice with little

    advanced notice.

ABSENCES

Due to the nature of our sport, absenses truly affect the entire team. Regardless of the athlete’s stunting position, missing one team member makes the practice extremely difficult for the coaches and other athletes on the team. We understand issues and illnesses will occur. To prevent lost practice time for everyone, alternates have been designated for each team. These alternates are specific to stunting position.

  • If your athlete will be absent, regardless of the reason, IT IS THE ATHLETE’S RESPONSIBILITY TO

CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE ALTERNATE AND ENSURE THEY CAN ATTEND PRACTICE IN THEIR

    ABSENCE.

  • Athletes will be allocated 4 personal days per year for unforeseen circumstances (illness, death in

the family, or family emergencies). It remains the athlete’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate

alternate can fill in for practice regardless of the reason for absence.

  • After the 5th personal day, the athlete will be put on probation and will risk not participating at the

next competition. Termination from the program will occur after 6 absences.

  • Absolutely NO absences 2 weeks prior to competitions.

  • DO NOT WAIT UNTIL AN HOUR BEFORE PRACTICE BEGINS TO INFORM YOUR COACH YOU ARE

SICK. Inform your coach ASAP. Your coaches do not want to redo practice plans at the last minute.

PUNCTUALITY

The mission at Summit Athletix is to prepare our athletes for the journey of life. Punctuality is very important in all aspects of life. Future employers will expect an on time arrival to work. We ask that parents work with their athletes to ensure they are arriving at practice on time and ready to participate. Consequences will be given to athletes arriving late to practices and other important events.

ATTITUDE

Teammates are expected to treat one another and the coaching staff with respect. A sour attitude from one athlete will quickly affect the entire team. Coaches will not tolerate gossip, negative talk or any actions which attempt to exclude specific team members. Our coaching staff has been trained to address attitude issues early. If attitude becomes a problem, we will address the issue with the athlete and then the parents. A positive attitude by all team members will produce a successful team.

SPORTSMANSHIP

Summit Athletix families will be cordial and respectful to athletes and families from other gyms. Cheer on your friends even if they are from a different gym. We would like to create a culture of encouragement and support to everyone on this crazy cheer journey!

  • Absolutely no celebrating the mistakes or loss of another team or athlete. We will support and lift each

    other up!

  • We will be a positive influence at competitions, specifically at awards.

  • No matter what the outcome, we will respect the winners by standing when announced

  • We will win graciously and be respectful when we do not finish as expected.

WORK ETHIC

Another life skill that our athletes need to learn is giving their best in all their endeavors. We are training kids to push themselves to be their best. Our coaching staff expects full participation at all practices. We want to train our kids to get the most out of their practice time in order to see results at competitions.

PRACTICE WEAR

Athletes will have a practice wear schedule. All athletes will be required to wear the appropriate outfit to practice. Uniformity is an important part of our sport. It is much easier for coaches to see formations when all athletes are in the same outfit. Uniformity also develops team culture and allows us to post quality videos of team progress on social media for parents to see!

COMPETITION POLICIES

Competition day / weekends can be a stressful time for everyone involved! Summit staff and ownership will release lots of tips on calming athletes fears and nerves during competitions. We are here to support parents and athletes through this experience!

  • Athletes will be given a detailed schedule for competition day / weekends. The communication will

    include proper attire.

  • Please be on time. There is nothing worse for a coach than showing up to a competition with a missing

    athlete at meet time.

  • All athletes are required to stay for their awards ceremony

  • Full uniform and hair must be worn to awards. Athletes will receive consequences for not adhering to this

rule. We want to portray a professional appearance as a gym. Regardless of our placement, arriving at

awards in full uniform shows our respect as a gym.

HAIR, NAILS & JEWELRY

For practices, hair should be firmly secured out of the face. We recommend keeping a few extra hair ties in your athlete’s backpack. Please refrain from wearing jewelry to practice as it compromises athletes’ safety during stunting and tumbling. Natural, acrylic and stick-on nails more than 1/8″ in length are not permitted for practices or competition.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Please remember that by being a member of Summit Athletix, you are representing the program. While coaches and staff are not monitoring athlete’s social media accounts, it is very common for us to easily see what the athlete is posting. Social media accounts must be maintained with proper integrity at all times. If any videos, photos, or general comments are inappropriate or hateful, the athlete will be asked to remove it immediately. Depending on the severity of the infraction, it could be grounds for dismissal from the program. This rule also applies to parents.

CONDITIONING

Conditioning is an important part of every practice. While it is extremely difficult to change the physical capabilities of an athlete in 1-2 practices per week, we will spend time each practice doing cardio and strength-training exercises. We believe this is an important part of fostering healthy habits later in life. Athletes who are working toward higher level tumbling skills or finding routine elements challenging may be given additional conditioning and flexibility homework. We ask that parents support our staff by helping keep athletes accountable. Ultimately, children and young adults may not yet have the self-discipline to accomplish goals without the help of their parents and coaches. Nevertheless, we know they want to reach these goals and want to do everything in our power to support them.
